9 Things You Should Know Before Attending The 2019 Hoppy Possum

So you decided to attend the Hoppy Possum Southern Brewers Cup? Great decision! But no one likes surprises and this being a new event and an entirely different format, we put together the 9 things you need to know before Saturday.

  1. Buy your tickets ahead of time. Seems pretty self explanatory right? This will achieve several things that make your life and that of the event organizers much easier. Not only will you save money but this will make the line move much quicker and get everyone inside and enjoying beer as quickly as possible.

  2. Plan to attend the Pre-Party, the After-Party, or both. We are kicking off the weekend with a Rare and One-Off Tap Takeover at Barley Waters on 9/27 at 7:00PM. Expect over 20 beers you wont find anywhere else. See the full tap list at the link above. On Saturday, after the festival, we will keep the party going over at JRH Brewing. They are hosting their 3rd annual Octoberfest celebration, Beer and Brats. They will have great food, live music by Love Unit, games, and 1L boots.

  3. Plan on not driving. We have plenty of options in Johnson City including the ever popular and stupid easy ride share services. If at any point you need a ride and don’t have one, just let any of our volunteers know and we will sort it out for you.

  4. Pets are not allowed. As much as we would love to have all the pups join us (were dog people too), the facility has a strict no pets policy. Rest assured, we will be working on ways we might allow furry friends at our 2020 event so stay tuned.

  5. Chairs are allowed. We will have plenty of space in front of the stage to claim a spot and set up some chairs. We do ask that attendees refrain from bringing any tents or canopies but umbrellas are welcome.

  6. Leave the youngins’ at home. This event is for those 21 and up only. We are sorry if this is an inconvenience but you need a little time away anyway, don’t you? Also, it should go without saying but bring your ID. No one gets in without one.

  7. Re-entry is not allowed. make sure you have everything with you that you need for the afternoon. Once you enter, your stuck with us. But not to worry, we will have plenty of great food, killer tunes, games, vendors, and maybe a craft beer or two.

  8. Bring a refillable water bottle. Sure, the food trucks will be selling water bottles but single use plastic sucks. All the tasting glass rinse stations will be filled with filtered water so stay hydrated!

  9. VIP food service times. There are lots of reasons to get VIP tickets, not the least of which is food. Local favorites The Firehouse Restaurant are serving up amazing BBQ with all the sides but they wont be there the entire time. Service will be from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM in the VIP section (the Perch if you are familiar with the venue).
